"A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare" PROVERBS 15:1
When in argument, why be harsh about another's harsh word? What better are you? Replying to someone in a gentle manner provides for a display of calmness and maturity in the situation. Showing this example to the other person, will cause them to become calm and both will be able to make wiser choices.
